First things first, Coffee – Yes, I confess I am a coffee snob who thinks that specialty coffee deserves to be everywhere. So naturally I was eager to test Remington’s new coffee-maker iCoffee. iCoffee uses SteamBrew™ technology to create “impossibly smooth” tasting coffee. According to inventor Bruce Burrows, iCoffee took seven years and over 1,257 prototypes to perfect. iCoffee’s patented SteamBrew™ technology makes it the first coffee brewer ever to utilize steam jets inside the coffee brew basket. The SteamBrew™ jets first pre-steam the coffee and then stir the coffee throughout the brewing process so each of the coffee grounds is completely suspended and surrounded by hot water at the perfect brewing temperature. Next, a rich coffee crema forms, indicating the elimination of bitter and acidic aftertastes.
Maybe because I am an ardent admirer of Classical Music or simply addicted to the intoxicating aromas of freshly brewed coffee; nothing is as exhilarating, especially in the morning, where with a touch of a button iCoffee plays notes from Mozart’s “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik”.
Bottom Line: Bold yet smooth coffee reminiscent of a well-crafted espresso from Italy. I don’t know about you but the sight of crema always evokes a warm tingle down my spine. Some coffee drinkers might be turned off by the sediments at the end of the cup, Remington recommends using the optional filter to minimize the extraction essence.
iCoffee is available in more than 800 retail locations in the U.S., including major national chain stores, local independent retailers, Home Shopping Network and online via their Website. You can also connect with them on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest.
The pairing of an intense cup of coffee and a slice of decadent chocolate cake is timeless. Both chocolate and coffee balances each others richness while accentuating individual flavors. So when my darling daughter requested a chocolate cake for her birthday, I knew I had found the ideal pairing for the iCoffee post.
Baking is something I leave to the experts, after all it is a science!! This Chocolate Cake recipe comes from Ms. Flo Baker’s cookbook – The Simple Art of Perfect Baking. Light and moist Devil’s Food Cake with Bittersweet Chocolate Frosting, even non-chocolate lovers will be gushing over this cake.
Layers of chocolate cake with brown sugar adds another dimension to this American Classic. Slathered with rich dark chocolate frosting and a fresh cup of iCoffee, it’s a decadent start to your weekday or fine end to your weekend dinner. Please leave a comment or email me if you wish to bake this sinful chocolate cake.
Until next time, here’s to more delicious times!!
