Hosting three foodie super stars, Macy’s was THE hottest place in town last Thursday. Macy’s Culinary Council Chef Emeril Lagasse was in town for a live demo of his latest cookbook Emeril’s Kicked-Up Sandwiches: Stacked with Flavor. Emeril Lagasse is the chef and propietor of 13 restaurants including Emeril’s, NOLA and Tchoup Chop and is the best-selling author of 17 cookbooks and his latest TV show – Emeril’s Florida – premiers in January on the Cooking Channel.
While waiting for Big E to arrive, I got a few minutes to catch up with Orlando’s very own celebrity chef: Gregory Richie, the Executive Chef for Emeril’s Tchoup Chop at Universal’s Loews Royal Pacific Resort. We chatted up on the fabulous and indulgent dinner Chef Gregory joined with Chef Kevin (K Restaurant), and Chef Hari (Cress) cooked up at The Sunshine State Celebrations at the prestigious James Beard House in NYC on October 10th.
With stars and tinsels in their eyes, the audience eagerly awaited the arrival of Chef Emeril. Wow, the energy was buzzing with excitement at Macy’s. Humble, witty, and funny, Chef Emeril is a master entertainer, the audience was hanging on to his every word. To illustrate my point, I will let this video do the ‘talking’.
Chef Emeril prepared two of his favorite sandwich recipes from his latest cookbook: Emeril’s Kicked-Up Sandwiches: Stacked with Flavor. Grilled Truffle Cheese Sandwich with Prosciutto and Mushrooms and Emeril’s Monte Cristo. The audience even got to taste the decadent grilled truffle cheese and cream of tomato soup, how thoughtful!
As a special bonus, Chef Emeril’s fans got to receive their own copy of the sandwich book with any Emerilware by All-Clad $75 purchase. And, Chef Emeril got to sign it for you!! Needless to say I came home craving grilled cheese. Thankfully like Chef Emeril, Soccetterne is one my favorite cheeses too, guess what I had for dinner? Grilled Cheese sandwich made with Soccetterne & extra sharp Cheddar.
It was indeed an extra special day for my foodie heart, I got to spend a few minutes with some of the biggest foodie stars, Orlando has to offer.
Have you had the pleasure of dining at one of Chef Emeril’s 13 restaurants? What was your favorite dish? I would love to hear from you….Until next time, grab a copy of Emeril’s Kicked-Up Sandwiches: Stacked with Flavor. It has over 100 simple, flavorful recipes for the world’s best sandwiches including the bread and the condiments that truly make them shine! From all the classics to his unique culinary creations, this cookbook features recipes for every palate and skill level.
