Spontaneous …The saltiness of Asian food always leaves me craving for sweets and hydration. Our recent visit to Lam’s Garden as usual left more to be desired. Leaving the parking lot, it struck me that Marble Slab Creamery was right across the parking space. What a brilliant thought! Needless to say, we took a brisk U-turn to eat ice cream.
Per se, I don’t have a sweet tooth; so on those rare occasions I indulge myself, ice cream by far is my preference. Ice cream in summers is a sheer necessity but in winter, I truly appreciate the flavors.
Brace your heart…walking into an ice cream parlor does nothing for one’s disciplinary resolutions. Since I was accompanied by my daughter, I made a conscious effort to curb my excitement. (After all, I didn’t want to be perceived as being ‘childish or uncool’ in front of her, right?).
Trying to select a flavor can be quite a feat considering the endless permutations Marble Slab Creamery can conjure for you. Fortunately for me, the owner (prefers to remain anonymous) enthusiastically volunteered to create a mix guaranteed to please my palate as long as I could either choose an ice cream flavor or topping.
And the Winner is….so, after several tastings of decadent flavors, I eventually succumbed to Mango. Yes, how predictable. The ‘Indian’ in me begged for it after one small spoonful of ultra creamy mango ice cream. It incontestably tasted like eating a ripe mango plucked from the fields of the State of UP. (Excuse my analogy, I was preoccupied)I don’t think I could favor one over the other. I got the pleasure to taste Mango, Banana, Rum, Cotton Candy, orange, and few flavors mixed together to create a unique blend. Each of them tasted ultra light, smooth, creamy, and bursting with flavors. There was no lingering after taste of artificial flavorings.
Bottom Line…I couldn’t help admiring the passion and pride of the owner in the brief moment I spent with him. His house made ice creams simulate the genuine taste of the varied flavors available in the store.
What a perfect ending to my crazy day. I left Marble Slab Creamery with both my heart and belly satiated. Thank you kindly, and I will be back for more.
