Mark your calendars people, the 21st Florida Film Festival kicks off this weekend, running April 13-22, 2011. Full Sail is celebrating its ninth year as the event’s primary sponsor. With more than 150 films featured during the 10 day fest, including special food-centric events, and forums – there’s something delicious and entertaining for everyone. About the Florida Film Festival:
The Florida Film Festival is the premier showcase in Central Florida for American independent and international film. Celebrating its 21st anniversary, the Festival debuted in 1992 and is a core program of ENZIAN, a nonprofit cultural organization founded in 1985. ENZIAN and the Florida Film Festival have served more than 1.5 million guests and hosted hundreds of notable celebrities including Paul Newman, Christopher Walken, Oliver Stone, Glenn Close, John Waters, Emma Stone, Campbell Scott, James Caan, Ed Burns, Jason Lee, Gena Rowlands, William H. Macy, Jon Voight, and Edward James Olmos. This year’s Festival features a record-breaking 167 films representing 31 countries and runs April 13-22. The Festival is funded in part by national and local businesses including Primary Sponsor Full Sail University and receives support from United Arts of Central Florida and the State of Florida, Department of the State, Division of Cultural Affairs, the Florida Council on Arts and Culture, National Endowment for the Arts, and Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. - 33 – first time directors, 31 women directors, 38 FFF alumni, 35 student films, and 23 by first time writers
- 4 – 2012 Academy Award nominees including Best Foreign Language Film, Best Animated Feature, Best Animated Short, Best Documentary Short. Last year we had 2 films earn nominations, TIME FREAK for Best Live Action Short and THE FANTASTIC FLYING BOOKS OF MR. MORRIS LESSMORE, which won our Audience Award for Best Short Film and went on to win this year’s Oscar for Best Animated Short. We also have a Student Academy Award winner in the Narrative Shorts competition.
Festival passes and ticket packages are already available for purchase online or at the Enzian box office. Festival Pass Holders gain VIP access to all films as well as other great benefits. Ticket package purchasers are invited to participate in early redemption which gives them the opportunity to redeem film vouchers for individual film tickets before they are available to the public.
