Run to Help Alleviate Poverty Worldwide, Virtual 10K with @WholeFoods & @WholePlanet

Whole Foods Market stores across Florida are hosting a virtual 10K to raise money for the Whole Planet Foundation. One of three not-for-profit organizations founded by Whole Foods Market, the Whole Planet Foundation focuses on alleviating global poverty by providing microcredit in communities that supply Whole Foods Market stores with products. Their focus is on women in the developing world, where a small loan can help a very poor entrepreneur build a home-based business and create a better life for her family.

“The beauty of the virtual race is that anyone can participate” said Vicky Santamaria, Marketing Field Associate for Whole Foods Market and race organizer.  “There are no limitations on where or how the 10K is completed. We just ask you to complete 6.2 miles to help change the lives of people around the world.”

So what is a virtual 10K? Virtual races let you run the race on your own time and on your own terms.  Participants have until Thursday, March 31, 2016 to complete the race.  You can knock it out in one day or take your time and run a few miles a week. All participants will receive a commemorative medal upon completion of the race period.

What: A World Without Poverty – Virtual 10K

When: February 17 – March 31, 2016
